A city sanitation worker was arrested for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in a Long Island City hotel room early Monday morning, according to police.
The victim was in her hotel room waiting for a friend–who had left the room to return–when she heard a knock on the door around 5:40 am.
When she opened the door 40- year-old Department of Sanitation worker Jason Alvear forced his way in.
Alvear began grabbing the victim and pushing his body against hers while trying to remove her clothes.
She told him to stop and threatened to call the police. He responded by saying “I am the police” and flashed a fake badge.
She still called the police and when they arrived, they found Alvear in the lobby of the hotel, where they arrested him and charged him with sex abuse and impersonating a police officer.
The police did not reveal the name of the hotel where the incident occurred but the NYPost reported that it was the Red Roof Inn on Hunters Point Avenue.
