Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole about $1,500 from an Islamic center in Astoria earlier this week.
The suspect allegedly entered the Islamic Center of Bosnia and Herzegovina, located at 37-46 Crescent Street, around 9 p.m. on Wednesday through the rear door, according to police.
He proceeded to use a tool to pry open the donation box and take cash out of it, and then forced open an office door and stole money out of a desk drawer, stealing about $1,500 in total.
Police have released a video of the suspect and anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
