NYPD: Man shoots his wife inside Woodside home, victim in stable condition

A Woodside man has been arrested after shooting his wife in the stomach on Sunday night.

According to police, 54-year-old Victor Guzman was arrested around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday night for shooting his 51-year-old wife in the torso inside their home on 59th Street near Laurel Boulevard. Guzman’s 7-year-old grandson was in the house at the time of the shooting.

Guzman fled the scene, but was later arrested near 60th Street and Queens Boulevard.

His wife was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and treated for her injuries, which were not considered life threatening.

Guzman is presently being held pending arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on a criminal complaint charging him with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.  If convicted, Guzman faces up to 25 years in prison.
