April 1, 2017 Staff Report
A sign that reads “Coming Soon!” for the popular west coast fast food chain In-N-Out Burger was placed on a vacant Queens Blvd storefront this morning in what appears to be an April Fools ‘Day joke.
The banner, which appeared on the vacant store next to Dazies Restaurant at 39-41 Queens Blvd., includes the In-N-Out Burger logo. However, the sign– in the bottom right corner– includes a picture of the Mad Magazine mascot Alfred.
If the store were truly coming it would have been the first In-N-Out Burger franchise in the north east. There is no mention of the company expanding to the east coast on its website, let alone opening a Sunnyside location.
In-N-Out Burger is based in Irvine, California and has over 300 locations across the country, most of which are on the west coast.
The company is often compared to Shake Shack, which is headquartered in New York City with more than 100 locations.
The owners of the property could not be reached for comment.
