The city started accepting housing lottery applications Monday for 34 affordable apartments in a luxury Court Square development, with rent starting as low as $908 a month.
The new 27-story apartment building, Watermark LIC (formerly Watermark Court Square), is located at 27-19 44th Drive. The building will contain 168 apartment in total as well as 2,500 square feet of retail space. The apartments are expected to open in July.
Of the 34 affordable apartments, there are 14 studios available for $908 per month, which are on offer to single tenants who earn between $33,018 to $40,080 a year; 15 one bedroom apartments at $974 for a person who earns between $35,319 to $40,080 a year, or two people who make between $35,349 to $45,840.
There are five two bedrooms on offer for $1,176. To qualify, a two-person household must earn between $42,309 and $45,840 a year, three people $42,309 to $51,540 or four people making $42,309 to $ 57,240, according to Department of Housing, Preservation and Development requirements.
The building will offer 24-hour concierge services, a fitness center at the penthouse level, café and lounge, landscaped garden, sky terrace, bike storage and individual storage units.
Applications are being accepted until June 14 and residents of Queens Community Board 2 (which covers Sunnyside, Woodside and Long Island City) will be given preference for 50 percent of the units. Complete details on how to apply are available at NYC Housing Direct.
