The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) is coming to Maspeth to mill and pave a stretch of the Queens Midtown Expressway service road next Monday.
According to the DOT, on Monday, May 8, workers will begin an overnight project tearing up and paving the westbound service road of the Queens Midtown Expressway from 74th Street to 69th Street. Milling is expected to begin at 8 p.m. on May 8 and continue until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, DOT said.
Milling is the process of removing a small layer of the surface of the road using milling machines to prepare the roadway for a new layer of asphalt.
The paving of the stretch of road will commence one week after the milling operation is complete and is expected to last for two days, DOT added, to allow for utility companies to access their subsurface infrastructure for inspection and/or repair purposes.
Any parking notices will be posted 24 to 48 hours ahead of any scheduled work.
