A high school located on the border of Sunnyside and Long Island City was briefly evacuated this morning after someone claimed that a smoke bomb had been set off in the building, a spokesman for the FNDY said.
The FDNY arrived at Queens Vocational and Technical High School on 47th Ave. at 10:56 a.m., but by 11:10.a.m, discovered it was a false alarm.
According to Robert Guttersohn, a spokesperson for the NYC Department of Education, the building was temporarily evacuated and everyone re-entered after receiving clearance from the NYPD and FDNY.
Another school in Queens was evacuated today as well. Around 11 a.m., a bomb threat was called in to P.S. 164 on 77th Ave. in Flushing. A spokesman for the NYPD said after an extensive search nothing was found and everyone was let back inside.
