In addition to great views of the fireworks, Queens residents will be treated to a number of performances from big artists at the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks.
The performances will be pre-taped for the show that will air on television on Tuesday. Jennifer Lopez will take the stage at Hunters Point South Park in Long Island City on June 30 starting at about 6:30 p.m. Charlie Puth and Hailee Steinfeld will perform tonight, June 28, LIC Talk reported.
Sheryl Crow, Lady Antebellum and Brad Paisley will perform on the night of July 4. You can request tickets for the events here.
Similar to last year’s schedule, a live broadcast will start at 8 p.m. on July 4 on NBC, and the fireworks will begin around 9:20 p.m.
During the display, a musical score will be played that includes contributions from opera singer Jamie Burton, country singer Craig Campbell, Tony and Grammy-Award winner Heather Headley, the USO Show Troupe and members of the West Point Band.
This year’s fireworks will include 21 new displays, 300 shells per second, 23 colors, 2,400 bursts and effects per minute and 50 pyrotechnicians who will control the show. The fireworks will be launched from five barges and can reach 1,000 feet, which is three times higher than the Statue of Liberty.
According to the 108th precinct, there will be no parking from 44th Drive to 54th Avenue from July 3 at 10 p.m. to July 4 at 11 p.m. This “frozen zone” includes all side streets as well. All vehicles parked at that time will be towed and you can call the 108th Precinct at 718-784-5411 with any questions.
