Kinship Coffee opened its second location on Steinway Street today, taking over the space formerly occupied by Caffe Bene.

Kinship takes over the 32-14 Steinway Street location that had been occupied by Caffe Bene, a Korean coffee chain, which closed that store recently.

Stanley Rivera, an Astoria resident and co-owner of Kinship Coffee, said he decided the time was right to expand, since his cafe at 30-05 Steinway Street has done well in the three years since opening.

“We offer coffee from some of the best coffee brewers in the world,” Rivera said. “I think we are known all over Astoria.”

Kinship’s original Steinway location seats 18 and focuses primarily on coffee, tea and fresh baked pastries.

The new cafe seats 60 people.

Rivera said the new location will also offer a more extensive menu than the original location, serving items such as fresh and premade sandwiches for breakfast and lunch as well as cold pressed juices.

“It feels really good to be developing in the community,” he stressed.

The café is open seven days a week form 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
