Bushwig — billed as Bushwick’s biggest drag festival — is returning to Queens this weekend at the Knockdown Center in Maspeth for two days full of drag queens (and kings), funky music, delicious food and drinks and over-the-top performances.
Entering its fifth year, Bushwig will entertain the masses over two days — Saturday, Sept. 23, and Sunday Sept. 24 — with more than two stages’ worth of performances by over 150 acts, an outdoor disco, a food vendor area, and pop-up shops for all the thrifty queens and kings out there.
More than 100 drag performers will grace Bushwig’s main stage, the GAG Stage, featuring international and local drag talent. World-famous and local favorites will be spinning the tunes at the Love Down Low stage, Bushwig’s outdoor disco paradise.
To see a full list of performers, DJ’s and musicians that will be flaunting their goods over the weekend, visit Bushwig’s website.
If visitors are feeling hungry, they can head to Bushwig’s food vendor space located right next to the Love Down Low stage. There will also be plenty of local vendors where kings and queens will find home-made products, vintage items, re-purposed clothing, trinkets, T-shirts, art, wigs, shoes and more.
Advanced tickets are currently on sale for a two-day pass, a single-day Saturday pass, a single-day Sunday pass, or a two-day VIP weekend pass which includes admission for both days, a Bushwig shirt, entrance to the VIP bar, a meet-and-greet with Bushwig’s headliner (Sunday only), opportunity to jump the line, and access to an on-call VIP liaison who will help with booking cars for travel, setting up the meet-and-greet and answering general questions.
Knockdown Center is located at 52-19 Flushing Ave. Bushwig is for adults aged 21 and older, and doors will open at 1 p.m. on both days with the first show kicking off at 2 p.m., and will close at 11 p.m.
