A Woodside man was arrested and charged with raping a 17-year-old female in an alleyway on Saturday, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

Berten Garcia, 28, allegedly grabbed the 17-year-old victim from behind and covered her mouth while telling her that he had a knife at around 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 7, the NYPD spokesperson said. Garcia then dragged her into an alley near 65th Street and Broadway, where he sexually assaulted her, the spokesperson said.

The 17-year-old victim, who does not know Garcia, got him to go back to her home, where he was then arrested by police, according to the NYPD spokesperson. Court records show that the time of arrest was 9:03 a.m. The victim then went to a hospital.

Police charged Garcia with first degree rape, first degree criminal sexual act, assault, and sexual abuse, court records show. Garcia is also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after police found a ziplock bag filled with a white, powdery substance on him, according to the spokesperson.

Garcia is due back in the Queens Criminal Court on Oct. 27.
