Dog and beer lovers will hop from one Long Island City bar to the next this week—in costume— to raise money for a local animal rescue group.
The Halloween Pop-up Pup Crawl is planned for Oct. 25, where attendees can bring their dogs bar hopping around dog-friendly establishments in the neighborhood for three hours.
Attendees will receive a pint of beer, pizza, drink discounts at bars, and a doggie bag with treats for both dog and owner. Beer experts will be on hand to explain different beer styles and the best beer for your taste buds.
The crawl begins at 7 p.m. at the John Murray Playground Dog Run, located at 11-99 45th Rd., and participants will go to local breweries like Big Alice and Fifth Hammer, along with other dog-friendly establishments. The tour will end at the Rockaway Brewing Company.
Proceeds will go toward the North Shore Animal League, according to Astrid Cook, a guide and organizer at Urban Adventures, the travel group that creates off-the-beaten-path adventures.
The pup crawl is the second for Urban Adventures. “This is leading up to what we hope is a regular tour that we would be able to offer,” Cook said.
Tickets cost $35 online for people 21 and over. Halloween costumes are encouraged, but not required. Attendees will be in a small group of a maximum of 12 people for the tour.
