A renowned artist has partnered with Project: Aloft Star to help give unsigned artists a chance at professional recording experience.

Project: Aloft Star, which is celebrating its eighth year this year, has teamed up with multi-platinum artist Gavin DeGraw to find new music talent. Hosted at the Aloft Long Island City, two musicians are up for a chance at the 2017 Project: Aloft Star title.

Unsigned musicians were able to enter the contest by sharing up to two original songs, a brief description, and an artist photo. Finalists will perform in front of a panel of judges and will culminate in the announcement of the 2017 Project: Aloft Star winner.

This year’s finalists include Gigi Rich, a pop/soul artist who submitted her song “Stupid,” which was from her first EP, into the contest and The Bergamot, a Brooklyn-based indie/folk duo that entered their latest single, “PDR,” into the contest.

In addition to the 2017 title, the grand prize winner will receive an exclusive mentoring session with Gavin, the chance to record tracks in a professional studio with a renowned producer, a coaching session with a publicist to help craft the artists’ story, and finally the chance to perform onstage as part of the 2018 Live At Aloft Hotels Tour.
