Police are looking for a man who jumped the counter and tried to rob a Jamaica doughnut shop at knifepoint earlier this month.

At 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, an unknown man posed as a customer and ordered doughnuts from a Dunkin’ Donuts located at 179-15 Hillside Ave. After ordering, the man gave the 45-year-old female employee money to pay for the doughnuts.

When the employee opened the cash register, police said, the suspect jumped onto the counter, displayed a knife and attempted to take money from the register. The employee closed the register before the bandit was able to take any cash.

The crook then fled the store in an unknown direction. Officers from the 107th Precinct responded to the incident.

The suspect is described as a white man with a beard, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black and gray hooded sweater, a dark-colored baseball cap, black pants and black sneakers.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
