An Astoria restaurant that offered East Coast comfort food has closed.
East Coast Foodies, located at 35-11 34th Ave., closed earlier this month, with the owner citing health issues as the reason.
The restaurant, which opened in April 2017, offered food such as Maine lobster rolls, New York hot dogs, Vermont cheese, Philly cheese steaks, New York wings, and more.
The eatery was owned by Dean Pappas and his mother.
“It will be a full family affair,” Pappas said, when he opened the restaurant last year. He said his family goes back several generations in Astoria.
Pappas left a note in the restaurant window that explained why the eatery had closed. He also thanked his customers.
“Due to the owner’s health issues, ECF will be closing,” the note read. “Thank you to those who came by and enjoyed our food.”
