Additional LinkNYC kiosks have recently been installed in Hunters Point and Court Square.
Vernon Boulevard will see two kiosks come online in the coming weeks, with one installed mid block between 48th and 49th Avenues, and another between 47th Road and 48th Ave. The boulevard only had one LinkNYC kiosk installed prior to the additions.
Another kiosk will come online by the intersection of Jackson and 48th Avenues. The kiosk is one of several along Jackson Avenue, the majority of which are in the Court Square and Queens Plaza areas.
Another two kiosks were installed on 11th Street, the first two on that strip. One of the kiosks is on 45th Avenue, across the street from John F. Murray Playground. The other is on 44th Drive.
A spokesperson for LinkNYC said the new kiosks were installed about a month ago, and should go live in weeks time.
LinkNYC launched in 2016 as a way to replace obsolete phone booths with a free, public Wi-Fi network. The kiosks also allow users to make free phone calls, charge their phones, and access maps and city services. Roughly 1,400 kiosks are active citywide, with the first batch of 11 kiosks installed through Long Island City last year.
