NYPD: Man Found Dead in Astoria, Evidence of Trauma to Face

Police are investigating the death of a man who was found unconscious on 18th Street in Astoria early today.

Police responded to a 911 call at 12:48 a.m. about an unconscious man, 48, lying in front of 20-16 18th St.  Emergency responders found the man unresponsive, with evidence of trauma on his face. 

The man was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner has yet to determine the cause of the man’s death. Police said that the examiner will make a determination as to whether or not it will be ruled a homicide.

No one has been arrested in regard to the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

The man’s identity has not been released as it is pending family notification.
