A 73-year-old man died earlier this week after he was struck by a car on Roosevelt Avenue, according to police.
Luis Simbana, of Jackson Heights, was hit near 49th Street and Roosevelt Avenue just before 10 p.m. on Sept. 17, and suffered severe head trauma after being knocked off his feet.
Police say Simbana was crossing the avenue mid-block from north to south when a gray 2003 Ford Fusion, with a 70-year-old male driver behind it, struck him.

A police spokesperson said the driver was traveling westbound on Roosevelt Avenue with the green light when he hit Simbana, who was outside of the marked crosswalk between 49th Street and 50th Streets.
Simbana was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he died on Sept. 24.
The vehicle remained at the scene. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
