U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will be hosting a town hall this Sunday at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City.
The Democratic senator, representing New York since 2009, will be taking questions from constituents on all issues, ranging from health care to jobs to the economy, for 90 minutes.
The Long Island City town hall marks the seventh Gillibrand has hosted around the state this year. It also comes as other area politicians and officials are planning town halls of their own in coming weeks, with Council Members Corey Johnson and Costa Constantinides holding a town hall in Astoria and Comptroller Scott Stringer hosting another in Long Island City.
Gillibrand, who is known for tackling issues like sexual assault and harassment, has also been a vocal critic of President Trump since he took office in 2016.
At a town hall in upstate New York last month, Gillibrand said the president has undermined freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and committed other transgressions against American institutions. She encouraged constituents to continue to speak out against the president.
She also stated at the August town hall that she would refuse to vote for Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, given his judicial stances and the fact that Trump, after Cohen’s guilty plea, had been implicated in a federal crime.
In light of allegations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh revealed last week, Gillibrand said the accusation is disqualifying, and that the vote should be postponed until an investigation is done.

The town hall will be held on Sept. 23 from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center Mainstage, located at 31-10 Thomson Ave (entrance located on Van Dam Street between Thomson Avenue and 47th Street). Doors will open at 12:45 p.m.
