A Speedway gas station on Northern Boulevard that has been listed for sale has shut down.
The gas station at 39-04 Northern Blvd. is surrounded by perimeter fencing with the site left bare save for the overhead metal canopy bearing remnants of the Speedway logo, and a building that housed a small convenience store and a Dunkin’ Donuts.
The neighboring Lexus dealership said the gas station closed about two weeks ago.
Property records, however, do not indicate that a new buyer has scooped up the property. Additionally, a Speedway spokesperson only noted that the location “remained for sale.”
Eastern Consolidated, the brokerage firm that was managing the sale and which itself is closing down, did not immediately respond to questions on whether the property has been sold.
Building records show that Speedway had recently filed to decommission and remove five underground storage tanks at the 40,000 square foot site. The work also includes the removal of piping and dispensers, with the excavated portion to be filled in with clean materials.
News of this Speedway hitting the market, along with another Speedway location at 39-02 Queens Blvd., first came in February.
The Queens Boulevard gas station, however, remains in operation.
Both locations allow for an as-of-right commercial, manufacturing, or community facility on site.
