A 49-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the head while inside a Duane Reade store in Woodside earlier this morning.

Police were called out to 60-02 Roosevelt Ave. at around 3:30 a.m. Monday after reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, the police discovered a man shot once in the head and once in the left hand.

The victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition. There have been no arrests and a description of the suspect has yet to be released.

The New York Daily News reported that the victim was the store manager. The police did not confirm this information.

The suspect then went on to rob the 7-Eleven at 50-92 Northern Boulevard about 25 minutes later. Then at about 4:15 a.m., police said he robbed Rite Aid at 33-01 30th Ave.

The victim of the Duane Reade shooting in Woodside was still in critical condition as of 4 p.m.

This Woodside location is not without incident. In July, a man was fatally stabbed outside Duane Reade and there have been constant complaints about vagrancy in the area.
