Man Slips Note to Astoria Bank Teller Demanding Cash in Failed Robbery Attempt: NYPD

Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob Astoria’s Sterling National Bank on Christmas Eve.

Police say the man entered the 37-16 30th Ave. location at 12:40 p.m. on Dec. 24, and passed a note to the bank teller demanding money.

The would-be robber, however, fled after the teller refused his demands, and was last seen heading eastbound on 30th Avenue.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, between 20 to 30 years old, around 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches in height, and with a slim build.

He was last seen wearing an orange jacket, a black hooded sweater, black sweatpants, red sneakers and he carried a black backpack.
