A teenager had his cellphone stolen from him at the 40th Street station earlier this month by a man who threatened to physically assault him for the item, according to police.
The robbery happened just before 8 a.m. on Feb. 6 at the Manhattan-bound platform of the station. The man, police say, approached the 16-year-old victim, put his arms around him, and demanded his phone while threatening him in Spanish.
The thief made off with the victim’s iPhone 7 and then fled on a Manhattan-bound 7 train.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, between 17 to 20 years old, and around 5 feet 7 inches in height.
