Still no arrests in violent, fatal stabbing of pregnant woman in Ridgewood (UPDATED)

Ridgewood02

Detectives continue to search for the suspect who brutally stabbed a pregnant, 35-year-old woman to death in Ridgewood early on Sunday morning.

Law enforcement sources said the incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Feb. 3 inside a building on Myrtle Avenue between Decatur Street and Fresh Pond Road.

Officers from the 104th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about the incident, found the victim inside the vestibule of the location with stab wounds to her neck and torso. Cops later identified her as Jennifer Irigoyen of Saunders Street in Rego Park.

EMS units were called to the scene and rushed Irigoyen to Wyckoff Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Police sources said Irigoyen was five months pregnant at the time of her death; her unborn baby also could not be saved.

The New York Daily News reported that Irigoyen worked for Crosstown Apartments, a Manhattan-based real estate firm.

Blood covers the concrete step leading to the Myrtle Avenue location where Jennifer Irigoyen was murdered on Feb. 3.

So far, no arrests have been made. At this point in the investigation, police have neither established a motive for the deadly assault nor a description of the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
