Two men who broke into an abandoned apartment building in Long Island City were robbed by a pair of fellow trespassers at knifepoint on Monday, according to police.
According to police, 18-year-old Christian Rodriguez and 24-year-old Frank Carillo broke into the back entrance of a boarded up home, located at 38-14 31st St., on March 18 around 5 p.m.
Shortly after the break in, 18-year-old Luis Martinez and an unidentified 16-year-old, entered the abandoned property and crossed paths with the first two trespassers.
Martinez and his 16-year-old friend then threatened Rodriguez and Carillo with a knife, forcing them to hand over their possessions.
Police say the duo stole an Android phone, $50 cash, a book bag, a bluetooth speaker, and an iphone charging cable, before slashing Carillo’s face and fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
Police say the circumstances behind the incident remain unknown.
Carillo’s injuries were treated by EMS on the scene, where Carillo and Rodriguez were arrested by officers from the 114th precinct for criminal trespassing.
Martinez and the unidentified 16-year-old male were located by police and arrested Tuesday. They were charged with robbery, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
