A man was placed under arrest earlier today after striking a two-year-old boy with his car in a Wednesday morning hit and run that left the toddler with multiple injuries, police said.
The driver, 20-year-old Ramanpreet Singh, struck Mason Castillo with his yellow 2010 Ford Escape while the young boy was crossing the intersection at 28th Street and Queens Plaza South with his grandmother just after 10:40 a.m. Sing then fled the scene, police said.
The child suffered trauma to his legs and head and was taken by EMS to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center.
According to ABC7, Sing was driving a taxi cab when he hit the pair. The toddler was reportedly found to have a fractured skull, a broken hip and a broken leg, and has undergone two surgeries to treat the injuries.
Sing was arrested earlier today at his home in Jamaica, Queens. He has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield and failure to use due care.
