A city school aide faces charges of weapons possession and drug dealing after a Queens drug bust yesterday, police said.
Nicholas Banks, 26, was arrested after detectives authorized a search warrant at his home within the 114 Precinct, around 8:45 a.m. on May 29 and found a loaded .380 firearm and marijuana, according to police.
The school aide has worked at Mott Hall High School, located at 6 Edgecombe Ave. in Harlem, since September 2017, according to the Department of Education.
Police say Banks came to their attention as part a larger investigation by the Queens District Attorney’s Office and narcotics detectives. No further details on the investigation of Banks are currently available, according to the Queens DA’s office.
Banks was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal sale of marijuana, conspiracy, criminal possession of a weapon, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
“This alleged behavior is extremely troubling, and this school aide was immediately suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal matter,” said a spokesperson for the Department of Education on the matter.
