An American craft cocktail bar with a catchy name has opened on 23rd Avenue in Astoria.
Bad Ass Bar, located at 26-17 23rd Ave, held its grand opening party yesterday and is offering carefully curated craft cocktails.
The establishment’s logo is a donkey and its owner decided to name the bar after what the manager Maurice Sweeney jokingly referred to as “a blessed creature.”

Live music comes on around 7 p.m. daily, at least during summer, and consists of bluegrass, gypsy jazz, and other types of American themed instrumentals.
The 1,000 square foot location has an industrial atmosphere with bare incandescent bulbs behind the bar, a backsplash of differently colored wood planks, and additional light fixtures made from a crate held up by chains.
The establishment does not offer food but has an extensive list of summer themed cocktails.
One of the unique cocktails offered, listed as “The Mother of Dragon,” is a gin cocktail infused with dragon fruit, strawberry, and lemon, and served in a martini coup.
The “Son of a Peach” is another summery cocktail made with peach vodka, peach puree, with orange blossom, and topped with sparkling rose.

The bar also offers a cocktail called “The Ass’ Rum” which contains pineapple rum, overproof rum, mint, lime, and ginger beer.
The establishment’s instagram also shows specialty shots that consists of chilli infused tequila with a citrus rim.
The owner of the establishment, Jason Sheridan, also owns the bar Gatsby’s which is located on Spring Street in Manhattan.
The Bad Ass Bar is open seven days a week from 5 p.m.
