T.J. Maxx celebrated the grand opening of its new 22,000 square-foot Astoria location on Sunday.
The store is located at 22-06 31 St. at Ditmars Boulevard, part of a commercial development that has gone up in the past year that replaced a one-story building that was bulldozed in 2016.
T.J. Maxx offers its customers a variety of products from clothing and accessories to home, beauty and pet products. The store is one of more than 1,200 T.J. Maxx’s in the United States and the fifth Queens location, with others operating in Rego Park, Glendale, College Point, and Fresh Meadows.
The store held a ribbon cutting Sunday to mark the opening.
Officials presented a $10,000 check to Hour Children, a Long Island City-based non profit that helps the formerly incarcerated, as part of the opening.
“Our newest store in Astoria will offer an ever-changing selection of high-quality, on-trend and brand-name merchandise at the amazing prices T.J. Maxx is known for,” said Tim Miner, president of T.J.Maxx, in a statement. “We’re excited to bring this experience to a new neighborhood.”
The new location is open Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
