The possible site of a new Amazon distribution center | Google Maps

While Amazon backed out of Long Island City, the e-commerce giant is eyeing another Queens neighborhood — this time for a distribution facility, according to a recent report.
The company is looking into leasing an industrial site at 55-15 Grand Avenue in Maspeth Crain’s first reported, citing “sources familiar with the firm’s real estate plans.”
While an Amazon spokeswoman told the site they “have nothing confirmed” in Queens, the property is already being cleared for potential building. It was purchased by RXR Realty and LBA Realty last year for $72 million.
The news comes as the company is expanding their New York City operations with an existing fulfillment center on Staten Island, a planned distribution center in Woodside, Queens, and another planned in the South Bronx.
Reports of Amazon looking into opening a logistics facility in Brooklyn’s Industry City and office space in Manhattan would mean the trillion dollar company would have a presence in each of the five boroughs.
