An urgent care medical center is set to open in Long Island City next month.
CityMD, which has a network 125 medical centers in New York/New Jersey and Washington state, will open a new facility on 27th Street in late September, although no exact opening date has been released.
The new center will be located at 42-10 27th St., on the ground floor of a newly-developed, 20-story building at the corner of 27th Street and Queens Plaza South. It will be next door to Starbucks, which recently opened, and is on the same block as the Queensboro Plaza station.
The 3,100 square foot center will be CityMD’s 12th Queens location and its first in Long Island City.
CityMD centers provide services such as X-rays, vaccinations, pediatric care and orthopedic casting, and provide on-site testing for flu, strep throat, UTIs and other diseases.
Dr Nedal Shami, CityMD’s Chief Growth Officer, told the LICPost that the company is opening a center in Queens Plaza due to the area’s growing population.
“CityMD aims to provide access to high-quality urgent care to as many people as possible,” Shami said. “LIC currently has high residential and commercial growth and our location, right next to the Queensboro Plaza station and around the corner from the Queens Plaza station, is ideally situated to be convenient for commuters in the area.”
The new center will open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
