Police are looking for a suspect who shot a man in the leg during the course of a robbery in Woodside last month.
According to the police, a 62-year-old man fell asleep on a bench at 50-18 Broadway at approximately 5 a.m. on July 20 and woke up to a man attempting to take his wallet from his pocket.
A struggle broke out when the victim realized what was happening. The suspect then produced a gun and shoot the victim in the left thigh. The bullet caused a shattered femur and the man was transported to Elmhurst General Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The suspect made off with $110 cash and the victim’s cell phone. He was caught on camera prior to the robbery by a surveillance camera at Woodside Housing Development and was observed to be a bearded black man wearing a striped T-shirt and white pants.
Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this male is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, or on Twitter @ NYPDTips.
