A 16-year-old girl who went missing in Maspeth on Saturday morning has been found in London, police said.
Victoria Grabowski, of 57th Road in Maspeth, went missing from her home at about 10 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 24 and was believed to have flown to London.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said that authorities in the UK had tracked Grabowski down on Wednesday afternoon and found her to be unharmed.
Shea confirmed reports that she had flown to London to meet a man, stating that the man had also been located during the course of the police search. Shea said that Grabowski developed relations of some sort with a man and got on a flight to London to meet him.
“We’ve located the individual and we’ve located the girl,” Shea said. “She is fine and we’ll get her back here to her parents. She’s safe and sound.”
Police could not confirm the age of the man that Grabowski had flown across the Atlantic to meet, but said that the investigation was ongoing.
Shea thanked the London Metropolitan Police Service and the Nottinghamshire Police Department along with the NYPD Intelligence Liaison Unit for their role in recovering the missing Grabowski.
