The owners of Pure Spa and Salon, a popular hair and beauty shop located on the border of Sunnyside and Long Island City, have announced that they are closing later this year after being in business for 14 years.
Patrick and Regina Tunney announced on Facebook that they would be closing the spa on Oct. 30.
Pure Spa is currently located at the City View Racquet Club near the 33rd Street 7-train station. The spa had operated out of a large space at 40-15 Queens Blvd until 2015, but moved to Long Island City as it attracted clients citywide.

The spa was founded by Regina who had worked as a makeup artist in Manhattan before deciding to start her own business. She gathered a list of trusted products and treatments and founded the beauty shop.
The Tunneys’ Facebook post thanked the staff who had worked at Pure over the years, and the customers who frequented the spa and salon.
They paid special thanks to their community partners, specifically those at CityView Racquet Club. The club, as part of its membership package, offers Pure Spa services.
The Facebook post also encouraged customers to redeem any gift vouchers they might have before the spa’s closure.
The Tunneys also own the Copper Kettle, a popular bar/restaurant on Skillman Avenue.
