Sac’s Place, a popular pizzeria and Italian restaurant in Astoria that closed its doors on Broadway in July, celebrated the opening of its new location at the Kaufman Astoria Studios Tuesday.

The restaurant, which had a soft opening last month, is located at 35-11 35th Ave. and had its official grand opening yesterday.

The popular restaurant will retain the same menu that was used at the original 25-41 Broadway location, but will not serve pizza slices until spring, according to co-owner Anthony Sacramone.

Sac’s, which was founded by Anthony and Domenico Sacramone in 1989, will also offer seasonal dishes such as butternut squash ravioli, Sacramone said.

Sac’s closed its doors at its original home of 30 years this summer after the lease expired on the building, according to Sacramone, who said that the location at Kaufman Studios was the only place he considered relocating to.

State Sen. Mike Gianaris attended the grand opening and said that the new location would be an instant success. Gianaris presented Anthony and Domenico Sacramone with a proclamation to mark the grand opening.

“Sac’s Place is an Astoria staple and its new location at Kaufman Astoria Studios marks the beginning of a great partnership. I know customers will continue to enjoy their excellent food for years to come,” said Gianaris.

Sacramone said that the new restaurant employs 12 staff and is capable of seating about 150 people.

The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. Sunday thru Thursday and opens from 11:30 a.m. till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and will be open for lunch and dinner.

Sac’s also operates a Jackson Heights location at 86-14 37th Ave.
