Competitive eater Molly Schuyler took home first place — and $3,000 — after devouring 10 “Ooey Gooey Mooey” burgers in 10 minutes during the first annual burger eating contest at Astoria’s Uncle Jack’s Meat House on Saturday.
Schuyler beat six men to win, with Dan “Killer” Kennedy, one of the world’s top competitive eaters, coming in second. The two world champs competed alongside four Queens residents and one participant from Pennsylvania.
The contest was held in celebration of the restaurant’s third anniversary. Owner Willie Degel judged the competition alongside Chef Barret Beyer of Long Island, DJ Chef — who recently won Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen — and comedian Christian Finnegan.
Contestants were given 10 minutes to eat as many burgers as possible.
Degel, who currently hosts Food Network’s Restaurant Stakeout, plans on raising the stakes for next year’s contest, with a grand prize of $10,000. A spokesperson for Degel said next year’s competition will also be expanded to include Uncle Jack’s Georgia location.
