A Corona man has been convicted for the brutal rape of his girlfriend last year, according to the Queens District Attorney’s Office that made the announcement Thursday.
Olger Macas, 31, was found guilty of first and third-degree rape, second-degree sexual abuse and second-degree criminal contempt. He now faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 9.
According to the DA’s Office, Macas sexually assaulted his girlfriend in his 108th Street home back in February 2018.
Macas – who was angry at the victim for dancing with a male friend earlier in the evening – grabbed her, pinned her down and refused to allow her to leave the apartment.
Macas then removed the victim’s clothing, bit her on the leg and raped her.
When Macas fell asleep, the victim located her phone, which was hidden by the defendant earlier in the evening, and called police. Unable to locate her clothing, the victim wrapped herself in a towel and escaped from the apartment to wait outside for the police.
An order of protection was later issued against Macas, which he violated two weeks after. He violated it when he called the victim and begged her to take him back.
“The defendant in this case brutally beat and raped his girlfriend, who he professed to care deeply for,” said Acting District Attorney John Ryan. “He raged at her that if he couldn’t have her, no one would. A jury weighed the evidence presented at trial and found the defendant guilty of this heinous attack.”
