Police are looking for a knife-wielding man who punched two women in the face during a series of assaults on Steinway Street last week.
The suspect is wanted in connection to three separate incidents that occurred between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Jan. 11.
Police said the suspect first approached a 50-year-old woman and her daughter, 9, as they were walking in front of 31-21 Steinway St. around 5:15 p.m. The suspect punched the woman in the face before fleeing northbound on foot. The woman was treated at a medical facility for bleeding and swelling to the face.
The suspect then entered a jewelry store located one block away at 30-07 Steinway St. around 5:20 p.m. and brandished a knife before attempting to punch a 61-year-old victim. There were no reported injuries, according to police.
The suspect then fled northbound on foot and punched a 45-year-old female in the face as she was walking in front of 28-33 Steinway St. around 6 p.m.
EMS responded to the scene and took the victim to Mount Sinai Queens Hospital where she was treated for pain and redness in the face. Police said the suspect then fled southbound toward 30th Avenue.
Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the suspect is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
