Two women allegedly robbed an elderly woman inside an apartment building elevator in Astoria yesterday.
The suspects went inside a building near 31st Drive and 21st Street at around 5:30 p.m. and then followed an 89-year-old woman onto an elevator, police said.
Inside the elevator, the women took the senior’s purse with $200 in cash, five checks and a MetroCard inside, according to the NYPD. The women then exited the elevator on the sixth floor and fled.
Police have released CCTV footage of the suspects.
Both women are between 18 and 26 years old, according to police.
One of the suspects is described as being about 5 feet 3 inches tall with a thin build and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black bubble jacket and red and white Jordan sneakers.
The other woman is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and was last seen wearing a blue jacket, gray sweatpants and blue sneakers, police said.
