Former New York City Mayor and Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg is opening a second campaign office in the city.
The new office is opening today at 39-36 Bell Blvd. in Bayside, and will be the epicenter of Bloomberg’s campaign efforts in Queens.
The office will be home to seven full-time staffers and will host canvassing and phone bank events, along with voter outreach, ahead of the state’s Democratic primary on April 28.
The campaign currently operates an additional field office in Harlem.
Several local lawmakers are slated to attend Thursday’s opening, including former Queens Borough President Claire Shulman, Council Member Paul Vallone and Assembly Member Clyde Vanel.
Council Member Vallone has endorsed Bloomberg for his run for the presidency.
“The unprecedented prosperity we have enjoyed is a direct result of the decisions and leadership made by our previous Mayor Mike Bloomberg,” Vallone said in a statement.
“He knew prioritizing economic development would be critical to balance the needs of every citizen. That is why I am proud to stand with Mike Bloomberg for president,” he added.
Iconic Queens baseball mascot, Mr. Met, will also be attending the event, according to the campaign.
