Just hours after the 7 train resumed service on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 2 — after the subway system was closed down due to the flash flooding from the remnants of Ida — a rider was allegedly groped in Sunnyside.

Police from the 108th Precinct and Transit District 20 are looking for a man who approached a 33-year-old woman as she rode in a northbound 7 train just before noon as it approached the 46th Street station.

The man proceeded to touch her rear end, police said. The victim exited the train at 46th Street while the assailant stayed on, police said.

The NYPD released a photo of a bearded Black man wearing a dark T-shirt.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the suspects is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at nypdcrimestoppers.com, or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
