Man dies after crashing motorcycle in Maspeth: NYPD

A 48-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident in Maspeth on Monday, Aug. 29, according to authorities.

Police responded to a report of a vehicle collision at Maurice Avenue and 53rd Avenue in Maspeth at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a 48-year-old male with severe trauma to the head and body, police said.

EMS arrived and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced deceased.

A spokesperson for the DCPI said that a preliminary investigation revealed the driver, later identified as Jamie Aguliar, of 108th Street in Corona, was operating a 2022 Fly-E-bike Z6 southbound on Maurice Avenue when he lost control and crashed into a utility pole near of 53rd Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad.
