Motorcyclist fatally strikes senior pedestrian on Woodhaven Boulevard in Rego Park: NYPD

An elderly pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorcyclist in Rego Park on Tuesday evening.

Police from the 112th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and 62nd Road at around 5:10 p.m. on Nov. 29. Upon their arrival, officers found the 74-year-old victim lying in the roadway unconscious with severe trauma to his head and body.

EMS responded to the scene and rushed the man to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD. His identification is pending family notification.

The motorcyclist remained at the location and was transported to Elmhurst Center where he was in stable condition with minor injuries.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad determined that the 22-year-old rider was traveling northbound on Woodhaven Boulevard on a 2018 Kawasaki motorcycle when he crashed into the victim, who was attempting to cross 62nd Road.

There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing, according to the NYPD.
