Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills are on the lookout for an alleged burglar who broke into a Rego Park apartment building and raided its mail area last month.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 26, the unidentified man approached one of the six-story residential buildings located in the vicinity of 67th Road and Booth Street, and used an unknown object to pick the lock to the outer door. Once inside, the suspect approached the mail room located off the lobby where he picked a lock on a mailbox that holds larger packages for multiple residents within the building.

The alleged burglar removed a package that belonged to a 39-year-old woman before exiting the location in an unknown direction on foot, police said, adding it was unclear what the package contained.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.

The NYPD on Nov. 3 released video surveillance that shows the suspect casing the lobby before entering the mail area. He had a beard and a “man bun” and wore a white T-shirt, a gray winter jacket with a fur-lined hood, black pants and black sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
