A man was robbed at gunpoint in the shadows of Citi Field earlier this month and police from the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst are still looking for the four suspects believed to be behind the incident.
Police say the 50-year-old victim was walking near 126-30 35th Ave. in broad daylight near the last remaining scrap yards at the so-called Iron Triangle across Tom Seaver Way from the ballpark when two vehicles pulled up alongside him at around 11:10 a.m. on Monday, April 10.
Four men jumped out and allegedly displayed handguns while demanding the victim’s car keys, police said. The suspects removed his keys along with his wallet, which contained an unknown amount of cash and his identification. The assailants drove off in the two vehicles and the victim’s car westbound on 35th Avenue towards the stadium.
The victim was not injured as a result of the armed robbery, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the four suspects on Tuesday, April 18. One wore a distinctive white jacket with blue stripes and a multi-colored graphic across the back over a white hooded sweatshirt, light blue jeans and white sneakers. Two of the armed men were dressed in all-black clothing, while the fourth assailant wore a black baseball cap, blue sweatshirt and dark pants.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
