A South Ozone Park man was arrested in connection with a pair of gunpoint robberies that took place within the confines of the 105th Precinct and police are still searching for his three accomplices.
Police say the first incident occurred on April 13 when, at approximately 11 p.m., the four men entered 7 Star Jamaica Deli Corp., located at 214-57 Jamaica Ave., and demanded money. One of the suspects flashed a black and gold firearm and proceeded to strike a 38-year-old man with the weapon. A police spokesperson could not confirm whether the victim was an employee or a customer.
The other suspects jumped behind the counter and grabbed $2,800 from the register, police said. The group exited the deli and fled the scene in a vehicle that is believed to be a silver Kia Optima, according to authorities.
The victim refused medical attention, police said.
Approximately five minutes later, the group entered Simply Organic Deli & Grill, located just down the block at 210-25 Jamaica Ave., and demanded money. One of the suspects flashed a firearm while another punched a 17-year-old male in the face, police said. The police spokesperson could not confirm whether the victim was an employee or a customer.
The crooks then jumped behind the counter and grabbed $1,000 from the register and then fled the scene in the Kia.
The victim was not injured as a result of the incident, police said.
Police on April 28 announced the arrest of 22-year-old Anthony Myers, of 145th Street. A police spokesperson said that the victim in the second incident saw the suspect two hours after the robbery and called 911. Police responded and arrested Myers. He is facing charges of robbery, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and harassment, police said.
The 105th Precinct is still searching for Myers’ accomplices.
One was described as having a light complexion and slim build. He is believed to be between 17 and 25 years old and is approximately 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, black sweatpants and gray sneakers.
Police said the other two suspects are also believed to be between the ages of 17 and 25 and have dark complexions and slim builds. One is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants and black and white sneakers. The other is approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants and black and blue sneakers, police said.
