The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two crooks in connection to a six-incident robbery pattern in the confines of the 104th precinct.
Starting on Friday, Sept. 29, and ending on Sunday, Oct. 1, the two unknown perpetrators were reported to police riding around in a red moped and targeting victims in the early morning hours.
Police say the first robbery that involved the two perpetrators happened in the vicinity of Palmetto Street and Cypress Avenue, in Ridgewood, at approximately 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29.
A 32-year-old male walking alone was approached by the two unknown criminals, who were riding a red moped, police said. The crooks then displayed a sharp object and forcibly removed the victim’s phone and wallet, worth approximately $490. The victim was not injured and the perps fled westbound on Palmetto Street, police added.
Later, at approximately 12:40 a.m. the robbers targeted a 37-year-old woman, in the vicinity of 60th Street and St. Felix Avenue, in Glendale, police said. The woman was on her front porch when the two perps approached and threatened the victim while displaying a knife. The woman was not injured and the robbers fled westbound on St. Felix Avenue, on a red moped.
Police managed to obtain an image of the wanted perps from the second incident. Officers describe the delinquent as having dark complexion, approximately 20 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, dark hair, facial hair and wearing dark clothing.
Police describe the second wanted perpetrator as having light complexion, 5 feet 2 inches tall, thin build, no facial hair, and wearing dark clothing.
On Sunday, Oct. 1, the third incident involving the wanted thieves occurred in front of 67-29 Central Ave, in Glendale, at approximately 5:20 a.m., police said. The victim, a 47-year-old man, was walking home when he was approached from behind by the two perps, who were on a red moped. The crooks then took out a knife and took the victim’s backpack.
The perps took off with the victim’s iPhone, air pods, wallet, backpack with clothing items, keys and money, police said. The moped bandits then fled eastbound on Central Avenue. A total of $1,450 was taken as a result of the incident. No injuries were reported.
Minutes after this incident, police say the duo robbed a 26-year-old man walking home in the vicinity of 70th Avenue and 66th Place, in Glendale, at approximately 5:22 a.m. This time, the perps rolled-up on the moped, displayed a knife and punched the victim.
The perps took off with the victim’s iPhone and earrings worth approximately $950, according to the NYPD. The individuals then fled northbound on 70th Avenue. The victim refused medical attention.
At approximately 5:37 a.m. 15 minutes after the second incident on Sunday, Oct. 1, police say a 58 year old woman fell victim to the same perps — who stole the woman’s iPhone and purse right out of her hand. The crooks threatened the woman but no injuries were reported to police.
Three minutes later, at approximately 5:40 a.m. a 39-year-old man’s gold chain, keys and $130 were stolen off of him by the two knife wielding fiends, police added.
According to the most recent Compstat report, the 104th Precinct is up 12.4% in robbery incidents year to date — an increase of 19 reported robberies when compared to the same period of time last year.
