Two strangers riding in a black BMW robbed a young man in broad daylight near the Solid Rock Church of the Nazarene in Queens Village on Sunday, Oct. 22, according to authorities.
Police from the 105th Precinct in Queens Village reported that the 19-year-old victim was walking near the church located at Springfield Boulevard and 100th Avenue just before 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 22, when the BMW pulled up alongside him. Two men jumped out and told the teenager they had a firearm before forcibly removing his personal property, including his social security card and driver’s license, police said, adding the victim was not injured during the incident.
The assailants drove off in a black 2019 BMW 430i two-door sedan with New York license plate KZW8691.
The NYPD released a surveillance photo of the BMW on Oct. 25 and described the driver as having a dark complexion. He is believed to be between 19 and 29 years old and is approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a medium build and curly black hair. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
His accomplice is described as having a dark complexion, medium build and dreadlocks, according to police. He is also believed to be between 19 and 29 years old and is approximately 6 feet, 1 inch tall. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants, and black and red sneakers.
A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to their arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
The 105th Precinct has reported 139 robberies so far in 2023, 13 fewer than the 152 reported at the same point last year, a decrease of 8.6%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
