A Brooklyn senior was killed last week after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into two women in College Point, according to the NYPD.
Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision involving pedestrians on 20th Avenue near the Whitestone Expressway in College Point at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that Ivelaw Yearwood, 71, of East 51st Street in East Flatbush, was behind the wheel of a GMC SUV when he lost control and slammed into two women, ages 66 and 23, who were standing on a sidewalk at the location.
EMS responded to the scene and rushed Yearwood to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short while later.
EMS also transported a 66-year-old woman who was a passenger in the SUV and the two pedestrians to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where all three were listed in stable condition, police said.
The investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.
