A total of 17 affordable housing units up for grabs in Douglaston, with monthly rents ranging from $1,522-$3,753.
The units are part of a 5-story residential complex going up at 241-15 Northern Blvd. The development consists of 55 residences, with 38 of them at market rate.
A lottery has opened up by the city for the 17 affordable units. Three of them are studio, eight are one-bedroom and six are two-bedroom.
Each of the studio and one-bedroom units, along with five of the two-bedroom units, are for residents earning 80% of the area median income (AMI). The remaining affordable two-bedroom unit is for those earning 130% of the area median income.
The AMI for the studio units ranges from $54,755-$90,400, depending on the size of the household. The AMI for the one-bedroom units range from $58,595-$101,680. The two-bedroom units for residents earning 80% of the AMI ranges in AMI from $70,183-$122,000, while the other two-bedroom unit at 130% AMI ranges from $132,446-$183,560.
The studio units are meant for up to two people, the one-bedroom units for up to three people and the two-bedroom units for between two and five people.
Amenities include washers and dryers in the units, air conditioning, high-end kitchen appliances and countertops with finishes, charging outlets with USB ports, common area Wifi, garages, bike storage lockers, electric car charging stations, a gymnasium, a recreation a room, a rooftop terrace, security cameras, an elevator, an accessible entrance and a nearby path for jogging, walking or cycling. Additionally, the development is pet-friendly and situated near a dog park.
